Excavator downhill precautions

Jun 19, 2022

1. Careful observation of the surrounding conditions

First of all, the excavator must observe carefully before going down the slope, and have a preliminary judgment on the actual angle of the slope, whether it is within the control of the excavator operation. If necessary, the upper half of the slope material can be shaken to the lower half of the slope, thus reducing the angle of the slope. In addition, if it has just rained, the road is too slippery for downhill at this time.

2. Remember to fasten the seat belt

Most of the machine hands do not have the habit of wearing seat belt, in the downhill time, if not wearing seat belt, machine hands lean forward. Still need to remind everyone to develop good driving habits.

3. Downhill

Downhill, first of all, we must clear the surrounding obstacles, especially to remove the relatively large stones, the accident will be too late.

4. Downhill don't forget to put down the bucket

When the excavator is going downhill, there is another point that needs special attention, that is, put down the excavator bucket, so that it is kept about 20-30cm from the ground, when there is a dangerous situation, you can immediately put down the work device to keep the excavator stable, so that it stops sliding down.

5. Go down the slope to face the slope

Excavators going downhill should be facing the slope, and it is better not to turn on the slope, which is easy to cause rollover or landslide. When driving to the ramp before, you need to check the hardness of the ramp surface first. Remember that the cab must face the forward direction.

6. Go at an even speed when going downhill

When going downhill, the excavator should keep a uniform speed, and the speed of the track forward and the speed of the arm should be consistent, so as not to cause the bucket support force to be too large for the track to overhang.

7. Try not to park on the ramp

When it is necessary to park on a ramp, insert the bucket gently into the ground, open the digging arm (about 120 degrees), and put a block under the track. This will ensure stability and no slippage.
